첫째 점토판 

 

The words of the lord Enki, firstborn son of Anu, who reigns on Nibiru.

행성 니비루의 지배자 안(한)우의 첫째 아들 은기의 기록.

**안과 한은 같은 발음. 안->한, 하나->한아버지->할아버지. “세상 성씨는 풍이 먼저 있었으나 풍은 사라지고 안(安-발음만 차용)이 그 첫 번째 이다.” 안은 니비루 말로 ‘천상의 존재’라는 뜻임. ->하누님->하늘님. 안우->아누님

 

With heavy spirit I utter laments; laments that are bitter fill my heart.

괴로운 마음으로 나는 애도한다; 저리도록 내 가슴을 채우는 슬픔. 
 

How smitten is the land, its people delivered to the Evil Wind, its stables abandoned, its sheepfolds emptied.

악마의 바람에 내던져진 땅과 그 땅의 사람들이 얼마나 고통스러운지, 그들의 마구간은 버려지고 양(羊)우리는 비워졌다. 


How smitten are the cities, their people pulled up as dead corpses, afflicted by the Evil Wind.

악마의 바람에 괴롭힘 당해 시체들로 가득찬 도시들은 얼마나 고통스러운지. 

 
How smitten are the fields, their vegetation withered, touched by the Evil Wind.

악마의 바람이 지나한 후 초목이 말라버린 대지는 얼마나 고통스러운지.

 

How smitten are the rivers, nothing swims anymore, pure sparkling waters turned into poison.

생기에 찬 물이 독으로 변해 아무것도 더 이상 헤엄치지 못하는 강들은 얼마나 고통스러운지. 

 
Of its black-headed people, Shumer is emptied, gone is all life;

검은 피부를 가진 사람들의 도시 수메르는 비워졌고 모든 생명은 사라졌다; 

 
Of its cattle and sheep, Shumer is emptied, silent is the hum of churning milk.

수메르에서 가축과 양은 사라졌고 우유를 짜는 소리는 들리지 않는다. 
 

In its glorious cities, only the wind howls; death is the only smell.

영광스러운 도시들에는 바람만이 울고 죽음의 냄새만이 남았다.

 

The temples whose heads to heaven arose by their gods have been abandoned.

그들의 신들에 의해 높게 세워진 사원들은 버려졌다. 
 

Of lordship and kingship command there is none; scepter and tiara are gone.

왕과 영주의 명령은 없어졌고 왕과 왕비는 사라졌다. 
 

On the banks of the two great rivers, once lush and life-giving only weeds grow.

푸르게 우거져 생명을 잉태하던 위대한 두 강의 제방에는 오직 잡초만이 자란다.

 

No one treads the highways, no one seeks out the reads; flourishing Shumer is like an abandoned desert.

도로를 걷는 사람은 없고 실톱을 찾는 사람도 없다. 번영하던 수메르는 버려진 사막과 같다.

 

How smitten is the land, home of gods and men!

신들과 인간들의 집인 그 땅은 얼마나 고통스러울지..... 
 

On that land a calamity fell, one unknown to man.

그 땅에 인간에게는 알려진 적 없는 참화가 떨어졌다. 
 

A calamity that Mankind had never before seen, one that could not be withstood.

인류가 본적이 없는 그 참화는 누구도 견뎌낼 수 없다. 
 

On all the lands, from west to east, a disruptive hand of terror was placed. The gods, in their cities, were helpless as men!

모든 땅에, 서쪽으로부터 동쪽으로, 파괴적인 공포의 손이 내려졌다.

신들은 그들의 도시에서 인간들과 마찬가지로 무력하였다. 
 

An Evil Wind, a storm born in a distant plain, a Great Calamity wrought in its path.

먼 평원에서 피어난 악마의 바람이 지나는 모든 곳에 참화를 일으켰다. 

 
A death-dealing wind born in the west its way to the east has made, its course set by fate.

서쪽에서 피어난 죽음의 바람은 운명에 의해 동쪽으로 이동했다. 

 
A storm devouring as the deluge, by wind and not by water as destroyer; by poisoned air, not tidal waves, overwhelming.

대홍수처럼 맹렬한 폭풍은, 물이 아닌 바람을 파괴자로; 파도가 아닌 독을 품은 공기로, 저항할 수 없었다.

 

By fate, not destiny, was it endangered; the great gods, in their council, the Great Calamity had caused.

운명이 아닌 인과에 의해 멸망에 처하게 되었다; 그들의 회의에서 신들은 그 참화를 일으켰다. 
 

By Enlil and Ninharsag it was permitted, I alone for a halt was beseeching.

은릴과 닌하르삭가 참화를 승인하였으나 나 홀로 반대하며 탄원했다. 
 

Day and night to accept what the heavens decree I argued, to no avail!

밤 낮을 쉬지 않고 하늘의 결정을 기다리라고 나는 주장했으나 소용이 없었다.

 

Ninurta, Enlil's warrior son, and Nergal, my very own son, poisoned weapons in the great plain then unleashed.

은릴의 전사 아들 닌우르타와 내 친아들 네르갈이

 평원에 그 독이든 무기를 풀어놓았다.

 

That an Evil Wind shall follow the brilliance we knew not! They now cry in agony.

악마의 바람이 섬광을 뒤따라 올 줄은 우리도 몰랐다. 그들은 이제 번뇌 속에서 울고 있다.

 

That the death-dealing storm, born in the west, its course to the ease shall make, who could foretell! The gods now bemoan.

서쪽에서 피어난 죽음을 부르는 폭풍이 동쪽으로 옮겨 올지 누가 예측할 수 있었겠는가!1

신들은 이제 슬퍼한다.

 

In their holy cities, the gods stood disbelieving as the Evil Wind toward Shumer made its way.

그들의 신성한 도시에서 악마의 바람이 수메르를 향해 다가오는 것을 믿지 못하겠다는 마음으로 바라보았다. 
 

One after another the gods fled their cities, their temples abandoned to the wind.

하나 둘씩 신들은 그들의 신전들을 버리고 그들의 도시들에서 도망쳤다. 

 

In my city, Eridu, as the poisoned cloud approached, I could do nothing to stop it.

Escape to the open steppe! To the people I gave instructions; with Ninki, my spouse, the city I abandoned.

나의 도시 에리두에서 독 구름이 몰려와도 나는 아무것도 할 수 없었다.

초원으로 도망쳐라! 나는 사람들에게 명령했다. 내 부인 닌기와 나는 도시를 버렸다.

 

In his city Nippur, place of the Bond Heaven-Earth, Enlil could do nothing to stop it.

천상과 지구를 연결점인 그의 도시 니푸르에서 은릴도 아무 것도 할 수 없었다.

 

The Evil Wind against Nippur was onrushing. In his celestial boat, Enlil and his spouse hurriedly took off.

그 악마의 바람은 나푸르로 몰려오고 있었다. 은릴과 그의 부인은 우주선으로 들어가 급히 이륙했다.

 

In Ur, Shumer's city of kingship, Nannar to his father Enlil for help cried;

In the place of the temple that to heaven in seven steps rises, Nannar the hand of fate refused to heed.

수메르의 수도 우르에 있던 난나르는 그의 아버지 은릴에게 도움을 청했다;

하늘을 향한 7단으로 된 사원에서 운명의 손은 난나르를 거부했다.

 

My father who begot me, great god who to Ur had granted kingship, turn the Evil Wind away! Nannar pleaded.

나를 낳으신 나의 아버지며 우르의 통치권을 하사하신 위대한 신 은릴에게 악마의 바람을 쫓아 주십시오라고 난나르는 간청했다.

 

Great god who decrees the fates, let Ur and its people be spared, your praised to continue! Nannar apealed.

운명을 판결하는 위대한 신이시여 우르와 우르의 백성들을 살려주십시오 당신에 대한 찬양은 영원할 것입니라라고 난나르는 탄원했다.

 

Enlil answered his own Nannar: Noble son, your wonderous city kingship was granted; eternal reign it was not granted.

은릴은 그의 아들 난나르에게 대답했다:

고귀한 아들아 너의 도시에 대한 왕권은 승인되었으나 영원한 통치까지도 승인된 것은 아니었다.

 

Take hold of your spouse Ningal, flee the city! Even I who decree fates, its destiny I cannot bend!

너의 부인 닌갈을 데리고 도시를 떠나거라!

 운명을 판결할 수 있는 나지만 너의 왕권의 운명은 나조차도 움직일 수는 없다.

 

Thus did Enlil my brother speak; alas, alas, not a destiny it was!

이렇게 나의 형제 은릴은 탄신했다; 아아, 아아, 이것이 운명은 아니지 않은가!

 

A calamity none greater since the deluge gods and Earthlings has befallen; alas, not a destiny it was!

대홍수 보다 더 큰 참화가 신들과 인간에게 떨어졌다; 아아, 이것이 운명은 아니지 않은가!

 

The Great Deluge was destined to happen; the Great Calamity of the death-dealing storm was not.

대홍수는 발생할 수밖에 없는 운명이었으나 죽음을 부르는 이 거대한 참화는 예정된 운명이 아니었다.

 

By the breach of the vow, by a counsel decision it was caused; by Weapons of Terror was it created.

맹세를 어김으로서, 신들의 회의의 결정에 의해, 공포의 무기에 의해 참화는 생겨났다.

 

By a decision, not destiny, were the poisoned weapons unleashed; by deliberation was the lot cast.

운명이 아니라 결정에 의해 독을 품은 무기들이 해방되었으며 협의에 따라 무기를 발사하였다.

 

Against Marduk, my firstborn, did the two son's destruction direct; vengeance was in their hearts.

내 첫째 아들 마둑에게 그 두 아들들의 파괴무기가 향했다; 복수심이 그들의 마음속에 있었다.

 

Ascendancy is not Marduk's to grasp! Enlil's firstborn shouted. With weapons I shall oppose him, Ninurta said.

승천은 마둑이 차지할 수 있는 것이 아니다! 라고 은릴의 첫째 아들이 소리쳤다.

나는 무기를 들어 그에게 대항할 것이라고 닌우르타는 말했다.

 

Of people he raised an army, Babili as Earth's navel to declare! Nergal, Marduk's brother, so shouted.

인간들과 함께 그는 군대를 일으키며 바빌리를 지구의 중심으로 선언한다!라고

마둑의 형제인 네르갈이 외쳤다.

 

In the council of the great gods, words of venom were spread.

신들의 회의에서 독기에 찬 말들이 가득했다.

 

Day and night I raised my opposing voice; peace I counseled, deploring haste.

밤낮으로 나는 반대를 주장했다; 나는 성급한 결정임을 개탄하며 평화를 권고했다.

 

For the second time the people raised his heavenly image; Why does opposing continue? I asked in pleading.

인간들이 성스러운 신상을 세운 것이 두 번째였다;

왜 적대함이 계속되는가라고 나는 탄원하며 물었다.

 

Have all the instruments checked? Did not the era of Marduck in the heavens arrive? I once more inquired.

모든 장비를 점검하였는가?

천상에서의 마둑의 시대는 아직 이르지 못했는가? 나는 한 번 더 질문했다.

 

Ningishzidda my very own son, other signs of heaven cited. His heart, I knew, Marduk's injustice to him could not foregive.

내 아들 닌기쉬지다는 다른 천상의 신호들을 열거하였다.

그가 당한 마둑의 불의에 대한 마음은 결코 그를 용서하지 않으리라는 것을 나는 알았다.

 

Nannar, to Enlil on Earth born, was unrelenting too. Marduk my temple in the north city his own abode made! So he said.

지구에서 태어난 은릴의 아들 난나르 역시 용서가 없었다.

“마둑은 나의 신전이 있는 북쪽의 도시에 그의 거처를 만들었다!”고 그는 말했다.

 

Ishkur, Enlil's youngest, punishment demanded; in my lands to whore after him the people he made! He said.

은릴의 막내 이쉬쿠르는 처벌을 요구했다;

“내 땅의 사람들도 그를 닮아 타락하도록 만들었다!”고 그는 말했다.

 

Utu, son of Nannar, at Marduk's son Nabu his wrath directed; The Place of the Celestial Chariots he tried to seize!

난나르의 아들 우투는 마둑의 아들 나부을 향해 그의 분노를 일갈했다;

“그가 천상의 마차(우주선)의 장소(공항, 착륙장)를 뺏으려 했다!”

 

Inanna, twin of Utu, was furious of all; the punishment of Marduk for killing of her beloved Dumuzi she still demanded.

우투의 쌍둥이 인안나가 그 중에 가장 격노하였다;

그녀는 그녀의 연인 두무지의 살해한 마둑에 대한 처벌을 요구했다.

 

Ninharsag, mother of gods and men her gaze diverted. Why is not Marduk here? She only said.

신들과 인간들의 어머니인 닌하르삭은 그녀의 관심을 돌렸다. “왜 마둑은 여기에 없는거지?”라고 말했다.

 

Gibil, my own son, with gloom replied: Marduk has all entreaties put aside; by the signs of heaven his supremacy he claims!

침울한 표정으로 내 아들인 기빌이 대답했다:

“마둑은 모든 간청을 무시하며 하늘이 징표로서 그의 지고함을 증거한다고 주장하고 있습니다!”

 

Only with weapons will Marduk be stopped! Ninurta, Enlil's firstborn, shouted.

“무기를 들어 마둑을 멈출거야!”라고 은릴의 첫째 닌우르타가 소리쳤다.

 

Utu about protecting the Place of the Celestial Chariots was concerned; in Marduk's hands it must not fall! So he said.

우투는 천상마차의 공항을 지키는 것을 걱정했다; “공항이 마둑의 손아귀에 들어가서는 안돼!”라고 말했다.

 

 

Nergal, lord of the Lower Domain, ferociously was demanding: Let the old Weapons of Terror for obliteration be used!

지하세계의 영주인 네르갈은 사납게 요구하였다:

“옛날의 말살을 위한 공포의 무기들(핵폭탄)을 사용해라!”

 

At my own son I gazed in disbelief: For brother against brother the terror weapons have been foresworn!

나는 믿기지 않는 마음으로 내 아들을 바라보았다:

‘형제가 형제를 향해 공포무기의 사용을 맹세하다니!’

 

Instead of consent, there was silence.

동의하는 말 대신 침묵만이 있었다.

 

In the silence Enlil opened his mouth: Punishment there must be; like birds without wings the evildoers shall be,

침묵 중에 은릴이 입을 열었다:

“처벌은 반드시 있어야한다. 악행을 저지른 자는 날개 없는 새처럼 되어야 한다.

 

Marduk and Nabu us of heritage are depriving; let them of the Place of the Celestial Chariots be deprived!

우리들 중에 마둑과 나부는 전통을 지키지 않고 있다;

“그들에게서 천상마차 공항을 빼앗아야 한다!”

 

Let the place be scorched to oblivion! Ninurta shouted; the One who Scorches let be me!

“그 곳을 불태워 없애버리자. 내가 그 곳을 불태우게 해주십시오!”라고 닌우르타는 소리쳤다.

 

Excited, Nergal stood up and shouted: Let the evildoers's cities also be upheavaled,

The sinning cities let me obliterate, let the Annihilator my name thereafter be!

흥분하여 네르갈이 일어서서는 소리쳤다. “사악한 자의 도시들도 파괴합시다.

죄지은 도시들을 제가 말살하겠습니다. 이후 저를 멸절자로 불러 주십시오!”

 

The Earthlings, by us created, must not be harmed; the righteous with the sinners must not be perished, I forcefully said.

나는 우리가 창조한 지구인들이 피해를 입어서는 안된다.

죄지은 자들과 함께 있는 선량한 자들 죽어서는 안된다라고 강하게 피력했습니다.

 

Ninharsag, my creating helpmate, was consenting: The matter is between the gods alone to settle, the people must not be harmed.

나의 창조 파트너 닌하르삭이 이에 동의했습니다:

 “이 문제는 신들 사이에서 해결해야할 것이니 인간들이 해를 입어서는 안된다.”

 

Anu, from the celestial abode, to the discussions was giving much heed.

천상(니비루)에서 안우는 이 논쟁에 많은 관심을 기울였다.

 

Anu, who determines fates, from his celestial abode his voice made heard:

Let the Weapons of Terror be this once used, let the place of the rocketships be obliterated, let the people be spared.

운명을 판결하는 안우는 천상(니비루)에서 그의 결정을 통지했다:

“이번 한 번만 공포 무기의 사용을 허가한다, 우주선 공항을 파괴하되 인간들은 살리도록 하라.”

 

Let Ninurta the Scorcher be, let Nergal be the Annihilator! So did Enlil the decision announce.

“닌우르타를 불태우는자로 네르갈을 멸절자로 허락한다!”고 은릴은 그의 결정을 공표했다.

 

To them, a secret of the gods I shall reveal; the hiding place of the terror weapons to them I shall disclose.

“나는 그들에게 신들의 비밀 하나를 알려줄 것이다; 그들에게 공포무기를 숨겨놓은 장소를 밝힐 것이다.”

 

The two sons, one mine, one his, to his inner chamber Enlil summoned. Nergal, as he went by me, his gaze averted.

은릴은 하나는 나의 아들이며 다른 하나는 자신의 아들인 그 둘을 그의 방으로 호출했다.

네르갈은 내 옆을 지나치며 눈을 피했다.

 

Alas! I cried out without words; brother has turned against brother! Are the Prior Times fated to repeat?

아아! 나는 말없이 울부짓었다; “형제가 형제에게 등을 돌리는구나! 역사는 반복되는가?”

 

A secret from the Olden Times to them Enlil was revealing, the Weapons of Terror to their hands entrusting!

은릴이 옛날의 비밀 하나를 그들에게 밝혀 공포무기가 그들의 손에 맡겨지는구나!

 

Clad with terror, with a brilliance they are unleashed; all they touch to a dust heap they turn.

공포를 담은 채 밝은 빛을 내며 공포무기들이 발사되었다;

공포무기는 스치는 모든 것을 먼지 무더기로 만들었다.

 

For brother against brother on Earth they were foresworn, neither region to affect.

.

Now the oath was undone, like a broken jar into useless pieces.

이제 그 맹세는 깨졌다. 마치 쓸모없는 조각들로 변해버린 깨진 물병처럼....

 

The two sons, full of glee, with quickened step from Enlil's chamber emerged, for weapons departing.

환의에 찬 두 아들이 은릴의 방에서 빠르게 나와서는 공포무기를 향해 떠났다.

 

The other gods turned back to their cities; none of his own calamity had a forebonding!

다른 신들은 자신들의 도시로 돌아갔다;

누구도 자신의 참화를 예견하지 못한 채!
